Algimycin PWF is a liquid, water soluble copper formulation designed to effectively control a broad range of algae including blue green algae species and cyanobacteria growth. |
Citric and gluconic acids in the formulation provide added chemical stability to the copper when used in alkaline waters. Control of certain forms of algae and cyanobacteria in these water sources can aid in the reduction of taste and odor problems associated with 2-methylisoborneol and geosmin production from these organisms. ALGIMYCIN®-PWF can be used for swimming, domestic uses, irrigation and livestock watering immediately after chemical application. Fish can be caught and consumed immediately after application. Dosage rates and frequency of treatment should be based upon the sensitivity of species present, the extent/biomass of the bloom and the depth of the growth present in the water column |

To apply, determine the volume of water to be treated in acre-feet. ALGIMYCIN®-PWF can be applied to flowing water using a continuous delivery drip system. Apply at a rate of 0.32 to 2.66 gallons per acre-foot of water to be treated for planktonic and filamentous algae, and 2.3 - 3.19 gallons per acre-foot for Chara and Nitella. For best results, begin applications early in the season when algae and/or cyanobacteria problems become evident and water temperature above 60°F or 15.6°C. Begin applications early in the day under calm, bright conditions. Contact time should be at least 3 hours. Dilute with 10 parts water to ensure even distribution. Break up floating mats of filamentous algae or scum formations before spraying or while application is being made. In regions where ponds freeze in winter, treatment should be done six (6) to eight (8) weeks before expected freeze time to prevent masses of decaying algae under an ice cover. Visible reduction in algae growth should be observed in 24 to 48 hours following application with full effects of treatments sometimes taking 7 – 10 days depending upon algae forms, weather, degree of infestation and water temperatures. Retreat as re-growth begins to appear. Allow 1 to 2 weeks between consecutive treatments. Heavy, out of control growth may require more than one application or physical removal to gain control. For hard to control algae and cynobacteria blooms use in conjunction with Phycomycin or Pak 27 to control resistant algae. Add Bio Boost Enzyme to the Tank Mix to increase the effectivness of the algae treatment. Treat heavy infestations in sections to avoid oxygen depletion. No water use restrictions. |

In Wisconsin and other states, chemical use permits are required for all herbicide/algaecide applications or you must have in place a current Type I or Type II fish farm license. Check with your local and/or state regulatory group for specific requirements. In order to apply chemicals in liquid form within Wisconsin, the applicator must be licensed with the State.
