BIOLOGICAL TREATMENT PRODUCTS

Bacteria are the base for the animal food chain within a pond or lake. Bacteria consume (decompose) waste products and assimilate nutrients by converting this material to other bacteria through the process of growing, reproducing, and multiplying. Bacteria then become the food source for other aquatic organisms such as zoo-flagellates, ciliates, and rotifers, which in turn become food for fish. These living organisms compete for the nutrients nitrogen and phosphorus) necessary for the growth of algae.

The efficiency of any bacteria depends on the amount of wastes available, an abundant supply of dissolved oxygen accessible to the organisms, and the type or strains of bacteria present to do the job. In eutrophic (aging) ponds and lakes where aquatic plants and algae are a problem, there is an abundance of organic wastes. ABI provides aeration systems that maintain sufficient dissolved oxygen levels on the lake or pond bottom to enhance the decomposition of organic material and the assimilation of nutrients. ABI also uses selected strains of bacteria such as ABI Bio Boost and Aqua-T to enhance this process.

ABI Bio-Boost Bacteria (10 & 25 lb. pails)

A concentrated, broad-spectrum bacterial product specifically designed for use in either cold or warm water lake and pond situations. Packaged in water soluble 1/2 lb packs, it is especially effective when coupled with ABI Bio-Boost Enzymes and aeration. With proper dosing, you can expect:

• Reduced sludge and organic sediments
• Improved water clarity and quality
• Controlled methane and sulfide odors
• Reduced surface scum and the nutrients that cause algae blooms

ABI Bio Boost vs Competition

Aqua-T (10 & 25 lb. containers)

A blend of selected natural bacteria, bacterial enzymes, and synergists developed to break down organic accumulations in lakes and ponds and compete directely with algae for nutrients. Packaged in easy-to-use, water soluble, 1/2 pound packets. Use @ 6 pounds/acre foot for the initial application and 1 pound/acre foot for the bi-weekly maintenance application.

ABI Bio-Boost Enzymes

ABI Bio-Boost enzyme products are a non-bacterial, extremely concentrated, readily biodegradable product deriving its efficacy through three primary sources:

• a biodegradable surfacant
• a nutrient rich extract
• a broad spectrum enzyme package

ABI Bio-Boost performs best in "enzyme friendly" environments. In these environments:

• Temperature is 40 to 110 degrees F.
• Turbulence is present to both increase enzyme contact with contaminants and to oxygenate the water.
• Dissolved oxygen is at least 2.0 ppm (optimal 5.0 ppm and up).
• pH levels are 3.5 to 9.5 (5 to 8 is optimum)
• Existing bacterial plate counts are a minimum of 104. Add ABI Bio-Boost bacteria if levels are below the minimum.

Because Bio-Boost enzyme products work at lower temperatures (40 degrees F) it is now possible to add enzymes and begin beautifying your pond resource before algae problems appear and get out of control. Enzymatic products have been shown to reduce and/or eliminate many herbicide and algaecide treatments. ABI Bio-Boost comes in an easy to apply liquid form and is available in 2 1/2 gallon containters.
