Fall/Winter

Fall/Winter Aeration Maintenance Performed - While most diffusers are self cleaning, a calcafied coating may form.   If the diffuser should oxidize excessive amounts of calcium or iron; it may be necessary to wash the diffuser with acid and scrub it with a stiff wire brush.  Air filters on the rotary vane air compressors should be replaced. 

  1. Install Ice Domes Over Aerators For Increased Safety
  2. Shoreline and Bank Stabilization Options and Concerns – Addressed Before Spring
  3. Fall/Winter Water Quality Baseline Monitoring Performed
  4. Fishery Assessment (Fish Stocking Fall/Spring, Overall Health of Fishery, Etc.)
  5. Aquatic Plants Ordered for Spring Planting
  6. Updated and Reviewed Last Year's Lake and/or Pond Management Plan

Spring/Summer

  1. Renew Type I Fish Hatchery License Before January 31. Copy Sent to ABI.
  2. Finalize Plant Management Contracts
  3. Finalize Lake or Pond Management Agreements
  4. Credit Application (If Necessary) Completed and On File
  5. Long and Short Term Management Plan Finalized By March 30, 2009
  6. Wisconsin DNR Permit Completed and Filed (Aquatic Biologists, Inc. Begins Processing Permits January 2)
  7. Perform Aeration Maintenance After Ice Out
  8. Remove Ice Domes
  9. Clean Diffusers
  10. Adjust Aeration System Layout
  11. Change Compressor Filters & Vanes; Check Bearings, Etc.
  12. Install Fountains
  13. Stock Fish
  14. Plant Aquatic Vegetation
